There are four things that we need in our lives if we want to experience the freedom that God promises.
REVIEW: We need relational connections.
- READ: 2 Thessalonians 1:3 “Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing.”
- DISCUSS: How do you feel about the quantity and quality of your relationships? Do you have people who really know you?
REVIEW: We need kingdom purpose.
- READ: Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
- DISCUSS: What do you think are your greatest opportunities in this season of life to partner with God as he builds his kingdom?
REVIEW: We need rest.
- READ: Matthew 11:28-29 “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
- DISCUSS: Do you usually feel well-rested and healthily paced, or do you often feel busy and rushed?
- DISCUSS: How do you think your pace of life is affecting your relationship with God and others?
REVIEW: We need pleasure.
- READ: Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
- DISCUSS: What do you think is the difference between life-giving pleasure and mindless entertainment? Do you feel that you pursue God-honoring pleasure well, or is this something you struggle with?
ASK:
What else did you get from this week's sermon? What actions or next steps can you take to apply it to your life?
PRAY:
For a Godly understanding of freedom and the wisdom needed to establish that freedom in our lives.
