Key Passage: Luke 2:1-20
There are three things we need to know about vulnerability.
REVIEW: Vulnerability requires courage.
- READ: John 1:10-12 “He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
- DISCUSS: What have the moments you’ve been vulnerable done for your heart? In retrospect, has it seemed to be a positive or negative experience?
REVIEW: Vulnerability strengthens our connections.
- READ: Micah 6:8 “No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
- DISCUSS: What are some of the reasons you tend to avoid vulnerability? In other words: what makes being vulnerable with others challenging for you?
REVIEW: Vulnerability increases our compassion.
- READ: Colossians 3:12 “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”
- DISCUSS: How do authenticity and honesty help us to love people more genuinely and actively?
ASK:
What else did you get out of the sermon this week? What actions or next steps can you do to start applying it to your life?
PRAY:
Pray for the courage to be vulnerable, and that God would continue transforming our church community into a safe and authentic place to pursue Jesus.
