Key Passage: Romans 8:32
Living generously is better than living selfishly.
REVIEW: Giving is an expression of love.
- READ: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave…”
- DISCUSS: How has someone else’s generosity shown you love?
REVIEW: Giving is an act of faith.
- READ: Hebrews 11:6 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”
- DISCUSS: How does giving sacrificially grow your faith?
- DISCUSS: Do you feel like you NEED faith and are truly dependent on God? If not, how could giving help you become more dependent?
REVIEW: Giving is an eternal investment.
- READ: Matthew 6:19-21 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”
- DISCUSS: What would it look like for you to practice storing up more treasure in heaven? What might be keeping you from taking another step in that direction?
ASK:
What else did you get out of the sermon this week? What actions or next steps can you do to start applying it to your life?
PRAY:
Pray for a clearer understanding of God’s generosity toward us, and greater faith in and dependence on his provision and faithfulness.
