Key Passage: John 11:1-44
The story of Jesus raising his friend Lazarus from the dead teaches us some things about Jesus’ character.
REVIEW: Jesus is generous.
- READ: John 11:4 “But when Jesus heard about it he said, ‘Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.’”
- DISCUSS: How have you discovered God’s blessing and generosity after going through something difficult?
REVIEW: Jesus is compassionate.
- READ: Matthew 9:36 “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”
- DISCUSS: What area of your life do you need to experience more of Jesus’ compassion?
REVIEW: Jesus is life.
- READ: 2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
- DISCUSS: How have you been experiencing Jesus’ transformation and new life recently? What has been changing?
REVIEW: Jesus is confrontational.
- READ: Matthew 10:39 “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.”
- DISCUSS: What have you had to surrender to God in the past, or what steps of trust have you had to take? Is there anything in your life that isn’t surrendered to Jesus currently?
