College Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for college ministry at Definition Church, aligning with the overall mission and values of Definition Church and the direction set forth by the Next Gen. Pastor.
  • Lead and mentor a team of volunteers and student leaders, empowering them to create and execute relevant and impactful programs, events, and discipleship opportunities for college students.
  • Coordinate and oversee weekly gatherings, small groups, service projects, and outreach initiatives tailored to the unique needs and interests of college students, creating environments where they can explore, grow, and live out their faith.
  • Build relationships with college students on campus, in local communities, and within the church, providing pastoral care, discipleship, and support to navigate the challenges and opportunities of college life.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders, including Kids and Youth departments, to facilitate seamless transitions and integration for young adults transitioning into and out of college.
  • Provide resources, training, and support to parents, families, and church members to engage and support college students in their spiritual development and involvement in ministry.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Theology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in college ministry leadership or related roles, with a demonstrated ability to connect with and disciple college students effectively.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a passion for developing and empowering volunteers and student leaders to lead with excellence and impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to college students, parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
  • Solid understanding of college culture, trends, and challenges, coupled with a commitment to contextualizing ministry approaches and strategies accordingly.
  • Experience in multi-campus ministry leadership and/or church planting.
  • Familiarity with relevant tools, resources, and technologies for college ministry, including digital platforms, event management software, and campus engagement strategies.
  • Training or certification in pastoral counseling, leadership development, or related fields beneficial.

  • Alignment with the Statement of Faith and core values of Definition Church.
  • Must pass a background check, demonstrating a commitment to ministry excellence and integrity.
  • Vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for reaching and discipling college students.
  • Ability to lead with integrity, humility, and authenticity, modeling a life of faith and discipleship.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a multi-staff ministry team, supporting the broader mission and vision of the church.
  • Visionary mindset, coupled with the humility to submit to the overall vision of the church.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

  • The College Director position is full-time, with work hours aligned with the expectations outlined by the Next Gen. Pastor and church leadership.
  • Flexibility for evening and weekend hours is required to accommodate ministry events, gatherings, and activities tailored to college students' schedules.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • The College Director plays a significant role in shaping the spiritual formation and growth of college students within the church community, with decisions and actions impacting the vitality and direction of college ministry at Definition Church.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with college students from diverse backgrounds and experiences, fostering a culture of belonging and discipleship.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to work collaboratively with ministry teams, church leadership, and external partners.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate vision, values, and expectations clearly and effectively.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The position may involve standing, walking, and participating in various ministry activities and events on campus and within the church community.
  • Additionally, the College Director may need to travel to off-campus locations or attend conferences and training events as needed for ministry coordination and collaboration.
